About donation-based Yoga

  • Dawn has always wanted to offer yoga, meditation and mobility to everyone, making it accessible and affordable to all.
  • Dawn has seen and experienced the benefits of each.  All of which can have a profound impact on our body, our emotions and stress, our minds and focus.
  • Dawn does not want price to prevent you from finding a healthy whole you. 
  • By creating this donation-based program, some may feel I am disrespecting myself, my training, and my practice. However, I believe that by offering this to you, I am teaching you to respect the offerings, the teachers and the students. 
  • Is Barefoot Space a “cheap” yoga studio?  Is Barefoot Space a discount, bargain basement yoga place? ABSOLUTELY NOT.  All I ask of you is respect for me, the teachers and the practices offered.  
  • Pay what you are able.
  • Pay it forward!  We need those who drive to class on their own, who have jobs, who can afford it,  who are driven by social action and conscience, PAY IT FORWARD! 
  • Does that me the instructors are not educated or qualified?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!  Barefoot Space has gained some beautifully mindful, skilled and experienced yoga teachers.  The safety of our students – physically, emotionally and spiritually – is taken very seriously. All of us who teach, offer yoga that helps heal and strengthen without inflicting harm.
  • Does that mean Barefoot Space will not have people who will “take advantage” of our kindness. NO... Of course not. I am sure it will happen, but I hope it will not.

By attending this class each week you'll have a specific and measurable way to assess your progress in mobility and active recovery.

Yoga For Athletes is every Sunday at 10AM @ Crossfit Spur in Glenmont. RSVP through Crossfit Spur!!!!

 HATHA YOGA W A TWIST - COMMUNITY CLASS  Donation Based  Hatha Yoga develops mobility, strength, alignment, functional movement and emotional, physical and energetic balance. Class offers a variety of postures (asana & breathing (pranayama)techniques. Some classe may incorporate more dynamic vinyasa flows. Participants of any level are welcome.in Hatha,     This class is a philosophy and style of Hatha Yoga that emphasizes community, independent thought, creativity, music and spontaneity. This opens the door to many creative, open minded, fun loving, spiritual, fly by the seat of your pants,  eclectic individuals.   A "Do It Yourself", guiding, no force and self responsibility!

Like many modern teachers, she incorporates a patchwork of traditions into her ecstatic, creative teaching style, with a core focus on the integrated breath/body/energy techniques of the Bihar Hatha yoga tradition. A former museum curator turned life coach, she has worked with some of the world’s most successful living artists and now writes about the places where creativity and mindfulness meet.

Your guide, ERIN SICKLER has devoted herself to studying different aspects of Yoga for the past 21 years. Like many modern teachers, she incorporates a patchwork of traditions into her ecstatic, creative teaching style, with a core focus on the integrated breath/body/energy techniques of the Bihar Hatha yoga tradition. A former museum curator turned life coach, she has worked with some of the world’s most successful living artists and now writes about the places where creativity and mindfulness meet.

 

 

 COMMIT-TO-SIT  Donation Based   'SOLE'FUL MEDITATION  w  Erin Sickler   A guided weekly meditation on Tuesdays at 6:45pm.   This class is directly after Community Yoga. If you would like to join us, please arrive timely and quietly as to let the yoga class finish in peace.  Class will always start at 6:45 and usually go until 7:30 but once per month we will have a longer mediation instruction/q+a 6:45-7:30 and go until 7:45. The regular meditation period will include: intro, brief outro and a 30 minutes of sitting  Please stay for tea after & bring an open heart and mind.

Class will always start at 6:45 and usually go until 7:30 but once per month we will have a longer mediation instruction/q+a 6:45-7:30 and go until 7:45. The regular meditation period will include: intro, brief outro and a 30 minutes of sitting

Please stay for tea after & bring an open heart and mind.

 Pranayama Class  Donation Based  A guided weekly breathwork class, Mondays at 6:16pm - 6:45pm.  This thoughtfully constructed Pranayama Class is a guided form of active meditation. By utilizing the power of focused & directed breathing, you are able to release "stuck" energies, emotions & past traumas. This healing & "sole"ful work will offer you & teach you the essential tools to release, eliminate negative or limiting patterns, such as anxiety, depression & grief.  In addition you will find that breath-work tools (aka pranayama) will help to aid you in restoring you to a more balanced mood-n-tude toward life. Physically, emotionally, mentally & spirituality you will find freedom. SO COME BREATHE AND BE FREE.
